Stars, they really are just like us! When Sofia Richie Grainge discovered she was pregnant, she was suddenly confronted with skin woes she hadn’t seen since her teen years. “I haven’t experienced hormonal acne since high school,” she says. “It’s probably the number one thing that has really drastically changed in my life — having to deal with bumps and oil production.” (Someone call the girl with the list!)
With heightened hormones comes new blemishes, and Richie Grainge was forced to reevaluate her skincare routine. “I’ve really had to go back to the drawing board,” she says. “My skin’s become super oily, yet flaky at the same time, so I’ve had to figure out a balance that worked for my skin.” To help soothe her pregnancy hormone-related breakouts, she turned to SkinCeuticals, where, as of this week, she is a global brand partner. “My dermatologist [gave me] the Simply Clean Cleanser by SkinCeuticals,” she says. Interest in Richie Grainge’s tastes — fashion, beauty, interiors and more — exploded after her April 2023 wedding to Elliott Grainge. She became particularly beloved on TikTok, an app populated by her fellow Gen Z-ers. While she may be living a much different life than most people her age, Richie Grainge still finds herself drawn to the app for beauty hacks. “I’m not going to lie: I am a girl who scrolls through TikTok and watches so many different girls try so many different hacks,” she says. “Sometimes I’ll sit in my make-up mirror and do the Meredith Duxbury [make-up].”
Although she admits that her approach to beauty is different from Duxbury — who first found fame for her viral foundation technique — the swathe of beauty content online has still helped get her creative juices flowing. “There’s so many cool different ways that people wear make-up and it’s inspiring. It’s not my thing, but it’s fun to try at home,” she says.

She’s become something of an answer to the overdone make-up looks of yore, instead opting for a fresher face — even on her own wedding day. She’s the first to admit that the beauty scene is still new territory. “I am honoured to be looked to in the beauty space, it definitely surprised me,” she says. “I have to be honest, I didn’t consider myself a big make-up person before my wedding.”
If anything, the unending barrage of content has helped Richie Grainge become even more confident in what does work for her, and the message she hopes to impart on others. Now, she’s keeping her daughter in mind, too. “I really try to inspire girls to embrace their own beauty instead of masking it with a ton of make-up. I think that’s empowered me, and that’s kind of how I’ve gotten to the space I am in beauty,” she says. “I’m happy to encourage women to do what makes them feel comfortable. Wear make-up! Wear as much make-up as you want, as little make-up as you want, but if you really want to wear less and do the ‘less is more’ approach, here are my tricks to doing it.”
