The Chloé runway has always showcased effortless French beauty. That easy, undone approach to hair and make-up that we associate so much with our chic counterparts across the Channel. Chemena Kamali unveiled her first collection for the house as creative director this morning in Paris, and very much continued the beauty aesthetic.
Lead hairstylist Gary Gill used Dyson’s Supersonic r hair dryer to create styles that enhanced individual models’ hair type: modern, loose waves teamed with typically French-girl long fringes, or face-framing longer pieces, all with a classic centre parting that looked soft and beautifully casual. “It’s cool, effortless, natural and flowy with good movement,” Gill explained.
Aaron de Mey led the make-up team, creating clean, almost bare-looking skin. Products by French brand Orveda – whose glow-activating formulas are fashion month essentials – were used to prep and de-puff models’ skin ahead of the early call-time. Make-up was then used in any areas that needed a bit of coverage, but applied in a way that looked seamless and undetectable. The definition of no make-up make-up. And what could be more French than that?
