At 51, Gwyneth Paltrow looks more luminous than the majority of us do in our thirties. Upon hitting half a century, she spoke to Vogue about feeling content as she marked the milestone – some of the choices she started to make in her mid-twenties, she said, were paying off. “Implementing a yoga routine; starting to really research and anecdotally experiment with healthier food, less processed food; and doing detoxes and stuff like that really set me on a path of getting to a place of turning 50, and crossing that threshold feeling great,” she said at the time.
She didn’t stop there, of course. Now, she’s revealed some of the elements that make up her routine, both to make her look and feel good, in an Ask Me Anything on Instagram. Here are our takeaways:
An eye-brightening hack
While she didn’t specifically reference it, Paltrow was wearing a white eyeliner in her waterline in the Stories. A make-up artist hack to brighten – and draw attention to – the eye area, keep this one in your back pocket for days when you’re feeling tired. We love Victoria Beckham Beauty Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil – it works wonders.
On grey hair
She’s into it! When one of her followers asked how she felt about embracing grey hair, she was more than positive. “I almost went for it myself recently,” she explained. “I’m not quite brave enough yet, but I think it’s cool.” She also revealed that she’s in dire need of a root touch-up, showing off the darker hair around her parting.
Her go-to serum
Of course it’s a Goop product. To “brighten the skin [and] improve texture, tone and hydration”, she’s all about the brand’s Goop Glow Vitamin C serum, which is soon to launch in the UK. Combining hyaluronic acid and 20 per cent vitamin C, the organic formula plumps and boosts radiance.
On her go-to facialist
“I’m a die hard Christine Chin girl, but please know it’s reallll in there, she will get stuff out [of your face that] you never knew you had,” she wrote. From removing skin tags and fungus (yes, really) to stemming the excessive production of sebaceous oil glands, a facial with New York-based Chin results in “complexion perfection”, if her many A-list fans – who also include Gisele and Hilary Swank – are anything to go by. They don’t call her “mean Christine” for nothing.
Beverage of choice
In a photograph that captured her (rather enviable) marble shelves, Paltrow showed off rows of tinned beverages. Not Carlsberg, nor Coke, but rather organic yerba mate and Equitea, both non-alcoholic, low-sugar drinks that are packed with adaptogens (natural inrgedients that relieve stress) and other nutrients, including antioxidants. They’re good for your health, so of course the Queen of wellness is drinking them.
