at what age do you photograph newborns?

Between 4 and 10 days after delivery is ideal. They are the most squishy and sleepy at that point in their newness. Older babies startle a bit easier and are harder to get into that deep relaxed sleep once they're moved into different positions. They are comfy cozy in that curled up position and love to be tightly swaddled for their wrapped shots. If that time frame does not work for you, I am more than happy to travel to you for a lifestyle newborn session instead!

you speak of travel... can you come to my home for a regular posed newborn session?

Unfortunately no. I have TONS of equipment, props, layers, blankets, lighting modifiers, ect that are not portable. Sessions are done at my in home studio. Don't worry, there's a huge flat screen TV and comfy couch just waiting to be napped on!

i want to take pictures of my baby in your setups is that allowed?

The only photo I allow parents to take while I'm working is a quick behind the scenes shot with me in it. That is for "check in" and promotional purposes which if you decide you want to do will actually get you a free 8 by 10 print. In order to receive that free print you must check in to my business on Facebook and tag my page when sharing on your wall. If you're an instagram nut like me tag @pointoflifephotography.

Can i bring my hubby, wife, grammy, grampy, brother, sister, cousin, hairstylist friend, gardener?

Bring whomever you like so long as they sit on my comfy couch and watch my flat screen tv or nap as stated above. Space is very limited and I can't properly work with hovering guests. If I need a hand for a specific pose I will definitely ask. It's best if just mom and dad come but I don't require keeping people away as long as they're behaving. Otherwise they get locked in my basement for the duration and it's cold down there so best behavior! (just kidding... kind of...)

How long will a session last?

A typical session will take anywhere between 2 and 4 hours. Yeah, I know, it's a long process. It all really depends on how baby's demeanor is. I won't rush baby if they're uncomfortable or hungry or wet. There will be feeding breaks often to top them off and keep them sleepy.

I have an entire pinterest board of pictures i want. Can you do these?

Pinterest is amazing for getting an idea of a look or pose you want. I'm more than happy to view your ideas but keep in mind each baby is different. Some will not go into certain positions and others will just melt into anything you try to do. If I feel like a shot or pose isn't working for your baby I will resign from doing it. There's nothing more important than baby's safety and comfort. Realize that quite a few of those poses are in fact composites and require multiple shots to be taken in order to merge them together. If baby does not like the position he/she is in and one of them does not work, the final image will not be able to be made. Please trust my judgement and guidance.

i bought a whole bunch of outfits, hats, props can we use them all?

Maybe. I have a TON of stuff here that I know works well for newborns. I am more than happy to work in some of the items you bring along if time allows. Any ill fitting outfits may be scrapped from the session if they just are not working. Trust me, you'll thank me later when you're swooning over your final gallery. Definitely bring anything that holds a high sentimental value to you. I will be sure to work that in.

what happens if my baby ruins your props or blankets with bodily fluids?

I'm so much more used to this than should be normal for any one person. Poo and pee does not bother me. I wash all my fabrics after each session and they're sanitized as well. It's 100% no big deal. Blow outs happen regularly and we just wipe off and keep going. It doesn't faze me in the slightest and it shouln'lt worry you at all.

do you reschedule or refund if i have to cancel?

Due to the limited time frame in which these sessions can happen, no. Spots are limited and holding your session date and time bars another new mama from scheduling with me. I don't double book dates and only host one session per day. Since it is unlikely we would be able to reschedule within the optimal time frame we won't be able to do so. Dependent on circumstances, the session fee may be applied to another type of session at a later date if you choose. Otherwise it will be liquidated.

Can we do a family portrait as well?

Sure! It will be after the session is completed by request only.

do you give out unedited images or COPYRightS?

No, I'm sorry but unedited images are not able to be given or purchased. Copyrights are also not provided. Print rights will be given to you however, I retain copyright of all my images. No editing, filters, or other alterations of the images is permitted per my contract. My work is a reflection of me and editing it outside of what is provided does not show my work as it truly is produced.

What if my baby is early, or late?

No problem! We will adjust accordingly. Preemies will be scheduled in relation to their adjusted age.
