newborn  prep  guide

Hello! Thank you so much for scheduling your newborn session with me! I can't wait to meet your precious baby and work my magic to make your memories some of the most beautiful you can imagine! Here you will find all you need to know, bring, expect and prepare for so your session can go as smoothly as possible.

what to bring

I will have all the necessary outfits, headbands, wraps and props. So no need to bring anything for the actual photos. If you have a special blanket or small prop you would love to incorporate, let me know so I can plan ahead on how to best use it!

You're going to want to pack basic diaper bag essentials. Bottles and formula if bottle fed, burp clothes, diapers, wipes, ect.

If you allow baby to have a pacifier that is a huge help when trying to calm baby. Please make sure if you're bringing one to bring the Philips Avent Soothie pacifier. It is the only one I have found so far that does not leave marks on baby's beautiful face. It is the hospital's pick for best baby binkie! If you don't have that brand no worries I will have some extras that are cleaned and sanitized!

Button or zip up outfits worn on arrival. Not having to pull shirts over baby's head helps keep them asleep from the start. Don't stress this part too much. It's helpful but not essential. Please note that if you're planning to bring a lot of props and outfits we may not get to all of them. I will do my best to incorporate your favorites but I ask that you trust me to choose what is right for baby!

Prepping for the session

Mom- Try to stay away from caffeine or spicy food 72 hours before the day of your session if you're breast feeding. Feed baby an hour before you leave for the session. I will have you give them a snack right before we begin to get that super full baby sleepiness. Try to have some awake time prior to leaving. We all know they won't stay awake in the car on the way so definitely don't worry about that. However, having them awake as much as possible an hour or 2 prior is great.

Arrive on time please- If you arrive early there is a chance I will be prepping the space and not notice my phone letting me know you've arrived. Late arrivals cut into your session time.  Please text (513-535-9304) or Facebook message me when you are almost here.

while you're here

My in home studio space is set up for your baby's ideal comfort. There will be areas within my space that are very hot (80 degrees) so dress in layers for your comfort. Trust me baby will stay cuddly and warm even when minimally clothed.

I will have light snacks and drinks as well as a couch in the parent's waiting area. Cell phones are only permitted in the waiting area and not in the session space. You will have the chance to snap a behind the scenes photo but I do not allow parents to take photos of the setups I'm using aside from that.

If you would like you're more than welcome to grab a quick catnap on my sofa. Many moms have done so and you wouldn't be the first or the last. I encourage you to relax while I am taking excellent care of your precious baby.

I may ask for a helping hand occasionally. Safety is my ultimate priority and extra hands may be needed for some of  your favorite poses.
